S.O.M. has been specializing in the production of different mechanical precision parts and components for the mechanical, hydraulic, electromechanical industries and for every kind of vehicles. The high quality of its products is guaranteed by an efficient quality control during the production and by a complete range of automatic Numerical Control machines. S.O.M. has an organized structure that includes the analysis of cost accounting and since 1997 it has been certified in accordance with UNI-EN-ISO 9002.

Years

Important phases of development of S.O.M. snc from 1958 to 2000
1958 - '64 => S.O.M. snc was born in Villa Carcina and it started doing turning for the
     tooling and assembling industry third parties with mechanical  components. 
1965 - '84 => The company specializes itself in the automatic bar turning with cammes-
     monospindle machines and becomes one of the main suppliers of FIAT OM in
     Brescia, FIAT IVECO in Torino and Magirus in Ulm in the field of screws and
     special fittings for industrial vehicles.    
1985 -'90
 => The covered surface increases, the company is re-organized and the first
     Numerical Control lathes are bought.
=> Programming courses for N.C. machine tool and data file on only one PC
     are introduced.
=> Cost accounting and network link for the company management are added.

1991 - '96


 => First N.C. lathe is bought, Index G200 with 7 controlled axles.
=> Coding and managing on PC of all tools, utensils and measuring instruments
     are introduced; new metrologic room, utensils warehouse, and the non
     conformable products warehouse are built.
=> Quality control and SPC processing statistic control courses.
=> Production programming and machine load managed by P.C.
=> Quality manual book and internal training courses room are added.  
1997
 => UNI-EN-ISO 9002 certification from DNV organization.
=> Courses and security autocertification with D.Lgs 626-758/94 according to
     EEC directives.
=> Communication and commercial management courses.
=> New investments on N.C. machine tool and high precision measuring
     instruments.
1998

 => High technological innovation prize by the Brescia Chamber of Commerce.
=> 1st ranked Excellence Lombardy Prize for the artisan enterprises.
=> Re-organization of the sales department, new image brochure creation,
     trade fairs participation, cock fittings and precise nuts and bolts foreign
     markets opening.
=> Purchased first N.C. mobile spindle lathe with 11 axels Tornos Deco 2000.
1999
 => New logo and company graphic design creation.
=> 2nd ranked Italy Quality Prize, received special mention and competed with
     companies that had up to 250 employees.
=> P.C. network creation for the SPC control and the automatic counting of
     pieces.
2000
 => UNI-EN-ISO 9002 certificate renewal and re-organization of the presetting,
     utensils sharpening and quality instruments room.
=> Company website creation and addition of new high technological firm-spindle
     lathes (maximum turnable ř = 65 mm) and mobile-spindle lathes (maximum
     turnable ř = 25 mm).
